In New York, we are working to advance efforts to end mass incarceration. Under Mayor Adams, 27 incarcerated people have died in city jails. Instead of saving lives and shutting down Rikers the Mayor has abandoned the city’s plan to close the jail complex. Urgent action is needed. The Mayor must cut the number of people incarcerated in city jails, shut down Rikers, and invest in real public safety such as housing, healthcare, education, and jobs!
