Katal Center Responds to Deadly White Supremacist Mass Shooting in Buffalo

Buffalo, NY: Yesterday, a white supremacist gunman drove over 200 miles to a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo with the clear intent of killing Black people. He killed 10 people and injured three more, almost all of them Black. This is one of the deadliest racial terror attacks in recent history. In response, Katal issued the following statement.

Statement from Kenyatta Muzzanni, Director of Organizing, Katal Center for Equity, Health, and Justice.

“Katal offers our deepest condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in the tragic white supremacist attack in Buffalo, and we wish those injured a speedy and full recovery. As many headlines have failed to report: this was a racist mass shooting that specifically targeted Black residents in Buffalo. This attack joins the list of recent mass shootings and racialists terrorist attacks against Black, Brown, immigrant, and Indigenous communities in the US.

Today, our hearts are with our members on n Buffalo and the entire Buffalo community as they mourn, process, and as they organize against white supremacist violence. We stand with you.”
