On Tuesday, April 14th, 2020 from 4 – 5 PM EST, Katal in collaboration with Community Catalyst held a virtual discussion on Intersectional Solidarity: Weathering the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Katal Center for Health, Equity, and Justice, Community Catalyst, and thought partners came together to discuss some of the challenges that communities we support and work with are facing. COVID-19 is not operating in silos, and like many times before, this is the time to support each other and mobilize around this crisis. COVID-19 has exacerbated inequities that we already knew existed, and systems can help vulnerable populations.
This call was a part of a series of two calls, and more if needed. During this call, we invited people to share how COVID-19 has impacted their environment and discuss some of the immediate changes that are taking place in response to COVID-19. Separately, we created a space to share resources like public statements, sign-on letters, and engagement tools to support each other during these uncertain times. Simply put, we invited people to use these calls and this platform as a place to step back and reflect, vent, learn, and share.
