Join our next NY Criminal Justice Reform Call

We’re one week away from our February NY Statewide Criminal Justice Reform CallIf you’re interested in learning more about the current legislative session and what’s happening with criminal justice reform in New York, then you don’t want to miss this call. Every month we’re joined by organizers, advocates, and community members working on every aspect of criminal justice reform in the state — and each call starts with an insider report from the lobbyist, about what’s happening behind the scenes. This month we will spend extra time discussing the hard push being made by some moderates and conservatives to roll back bail reform again. Register here to join us on Thursday, February 10 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

If you have any questions about the statewide call or would like to present on an upcoming call, please contact Yonah at yonah@katalcenter.org.

Timeline for Implementing #LessIsMoreNY

Katal Members Outside of Governors NYC Office Calling for Passage of #LessIsMoreNY, 05.07.2021

Since the #LessIsMoreNY bill was signed last September, more than 1,000 people have been released from jails and prisons in New York. These were  folks incarcerated for noncriminal technical violations of parole. Thanks to Less Is More, they were able to return home and be with their families. On March 1st, additional provisions of the Less Is More Act go into effect. But it’s not enough for the law to go into effect – it has to be implemented effectfly. That’s what we’re focused on now. With more than 30,000 people on parole in New York, effective and full implementation of #LessIsMoreNY is critically important.

Got questions about the Less Is More Act? Want to join the fight to protect and implement the law? Join us on Tuesday, February 15 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. for our next #LessIsMoreNY Campaign Update call.
