Victory! Miller Bridge Community Farm was approved by the Economic Development Commission!
Our Cultivating Justice project has been building and growing power in Middletown. Last week, Cultivating Justice members held their monthly Cultivating justice meeting. During this meeting, they discussed The Miller Street community farm, testing soil project, and heard from different farmers about upcoming events.
After a long fight for a lease for the Miller Street Community Farm, we’ve got great news to share – the lease is moving forward! On Tuesday April 9th, The Miller Street Community Farm was up for vote at the Middletown Economic Development meeting – Cultivating Justice members turned out. We mobilized people to attend and share public testimony in support of the community farm, located in one of the most segregated parts of the city, Miller Street bridge community. People joined in person and via zoom and the lease was approved. The lease is now onto city hall for vote.
Check out an article about the project here. We created a petition to help support the community farm which continues to grow. Please sign and share! Follow cultivating justice on instagram here. To learn more about the Miller Street Bridge community, watch the video here.
