Join us next Thursday, January 15th, at 1 pm for a webinar via Zoom with the Data Collaborative for Justice at John Jay titled, Rikers Island and Mental Health: Data, Lived Experience, and Community-Based Alternatives.
This webinar will discuss our November 2025 report, Rikers Island and Mental Health: Pathways Toward Community-Based Diversion and Jail Population Reduction, which identifies a 15-point plan to create a more effective and humane path forward to reduce the jail population and shut down Rikers.

This one-hour session will cover:
- Updated data on the nature & scale of mental health needs among people incarcerated at Rikers
- First-person accounts that reveal the human impact of inadequate mental health care while detained
- Key policy recommendations, including a 15-point plan to strengthen community treatment and reduce unnecessary detention.
