Cultivating Justice

May contain image of hand holding plant, with sunburst-style pattern, and blue banner with white text reading CULTIVATING JUSTICE

Our Cultivating Justice project is continuing to build and grow power in Middletown. Last week, we installed new bees, and had soil delivered to the farm! This week, Cultivating Justice leaders attended a tableting event at the annual Middlesex Chamber of Commerce Career Expo in Middletown CT. We met with local high school students in Middlesex County introducing them to farming, chicken keeping, community organizing and connected them to Miller Street Community Farm. We were able to meet students interested in farming and talk to them about careers in agriculture based in Connecticut. This year we will expand this Cultivating Justice by adding 13 acres at Lovie’s Farm for students and families in Middlesex County. We had the students who visited the table suggest names for the two chickens hatched by Chicks Ahoy Farm FLOC members of Cultivating Justice and Chicks ahoy Farm’s Avian Embryology project.
