During this month’s call, our lobbyist will spend additional time providing a detailed breakdown of the 2025 election results and its impact on the upcoming legislative session at the State Capitol. We’ll also be joined by organizers, advocates, and community members working on various reform initiatives across the state.

Recap: Cultivating Justice Meeting

Chicken keepers Sasha Allen-Walton, Delita Rose-Daniels, and Shelby Henderson talk about how they got started at Growing Power ‘24

Did you miss the November 7th Cultivating Justice monthly meeting? Don’t miss the next one–register to attend our December 5th meeting! Last week, we met to strategize making Middletown’s chicken keeping ordinance equitable and accessible to more of us. Together, we planned a community action meeting about the chicken rules on December 11th at 6:30pm, discussed the related petition, and spoke about the ways local rules were designed to control communities and land access. Join us next month and be part of the discussion!

Recap: Action Meeting

Bring your kids, neighbors, and friends to a community action meeting about Middletown’s chicken rules! These rules, created in the 1930s, have nothing to do with chickens and are actually about controlling land use, and limiting immigrant and BILPOC residents’ ways of living. We’ve rewritten the rules and want to hear from YOU! Sign on to the petition, and register to come to the action meeting and tell City Officials why the rules need to change!
