Our Members
Building Power Together
Katal members are parents, students, teachers, young people, congregants, neighborhood leaders, and more. Many of our members are directly impacted by mass incarceration, the drug war, a faltering healthcare system, and/or poverty. Members work together to make change in their communities. It is through organizing together that we build and exercise collective power to advance equity, health, and justice.
What do Katal Members Do?
Members drive Katal’s work in New York, meeting regularly to create action plans, reflect, and learn together. Members develop their leadership skills, take part in collective decision-making, shape Katal’s campaigns, and represent the organization in public meetings and in the press.
Our members support each other in collective work to change systems. We’ve won big fights for bail reform, parole reform, and much more. We organize together and stick together in the fight for a more just world. Check out some of the work our members have accomplished, below.
